What to expect when ordering a custom hat.

Ordering a custom-made item for yourself might feel like an extraordinary treat. Considering that this one item might last you a lifetime and give you this indescribable feeling of self love and appreciation, changes this perspective instantly. But what to expect when entering into this process? It begins with a first inspiration, your dreams, your favourite colours, shapes and textures. The hats shown on our website reflect the ideas and preferences of former clients and of our chief hat maker Lisa and can lend you a helping hand in choosing what shapes, colours and designs make your heart beat a little faster.

After getting an idea about what you want, we will get the sizing right. This step is crucial and the success of your custom-hat journey will greatly depend on the correct measurement of your head. The measuring or also called fitting can be done in person in our studio in Nelson or online via a video conference. All you need is a flexible measuring tape. After a first contact we will tell you everything you need to know about getting your head size right and will guide you live through the measuring process.

Now to the creative part: Your design choices. Material, shapes of crown and brim, colour choices and finally a selection of trims that speak to you round up our interview. We will answer all questions and provide our experience of the actual hat-making process so that you will feel informed and confident about your choices. 

We will then enter the handcrafting process and create what you designed.
